Lana Del Rey cuts video for ‘Gatsby’s’ single ‘Young and Beautiful’

Baz Luhrmann’s gilded “The Great Gatsby” may beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into film-critic disapproval. But that hasn’t stopped its soundtrack artists from capitalizing on its imagery of seductive wealth and youth.
Lana Del Rey, who has long enjoyed a similar vintage-decadence aesthetic, has cut a video for her contribution to the film, the regal single “Young & Beautiful.”
Fans of her more involved visual fare may find this clean, classy clip of her performing before an orchestra to be a little restrained. No courtly tigers or swoon-able neck-tattooed beaus here.

But directors Chris Sweeney and Sophie Muller wring every last drop of era-hopping glamour and menace from her, pairing Lil Wayne-style teardrop tattoos with an art-deco allure straight out of Cocoanut Grove.
“Gatsby’s” indie and hip-hop heavy soundtrack was a major feature for the film’s intended young audience, and it looks as if the soundtrack’s artists (especially Del Rey) are happy to inhabit its universe a little longer.
