NCIS Gibbs (Mark Harmon) is enjoying a quiet vacation at his remote cabin when he gets a call from his team asking for help locating a criminal hiding nearby in the woods in this new episode. David McCallum also stars. 8 p.m. CBS

The Flash Barry (Grant Gustin) and his team hunt for a meta who is stealing high-tech weapons, only to cross paths with a new foe (Chris Klein) who is hunting the same meta. Candice Patton and Danielle Panabaker also star in this new episode of the superhero series. 8 p.m. KTLA

The Conners After the controversy that saw ABC cancel the successful revival of the sitcom “Roseanne,” the misadventures of the Conner family continue — sans Roseanne Barr — in the season premiere of this sequel, which stars original cast members John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert. 8 p.m. ABC

The Great American Read Highlighted books include “Atlas Shrugged,” “Dune,” “The Chronicles of Narnia,” “Foundation,” “Gulliver’s Travels,” “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” “The Lord of the Rings,” “Lonesome Dove,” “The Martian” and “Outlander.” 8 p.m. KOCE

The Kids Are Alright Creator-producer Tim Doyle based this new sitcom on his own upbringing in the 1970s. Michael Cudlitz (“The Walking Dead”) and Mary McCormack (“The West Wing”) star as a couple with eight sons who largely are left to their own inventions as they come of age in tumultuous times. 8:30 p.m. ABC

FBI Special agents Bell and Zidan (Missy Peregrym, Zeeko Zaki) rush to track down an active sniper who has an elusive motive. 9 p.m. CBS

This Is Us A young Jack makes a decision that will affect the course of his life. Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore star. 9 p.m. NBC

black-ish After all the drama Dre and Bow (Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross) went through last year finding the right college for Junior (Marcus Scribner), they drop him off at the school, then find him back at home after deciding to take a “gap year” in the season premiere of the family comedy. Miles Brown and Marsai Martin also star. 9 p.m. ABC

American Experience Michelle Ferrari’s documentary “The Eugenics Crusade” charts the rise and fall of this U.S. movement to breed a “better” American race. 9 p.m. KOCE and KPBS

Splitting Up Together The quirky comedy about divorced parents still living in the same house with their kids returns for a new season. Jenna Fischer and Oliver Hudson star. 9:30 p.m. ABC

NCIS: New Orleans After the body of a petty officer is discovered under a shrimping boat, the team finds evidence of a conspiracy within the local fishing community, which they learn is tight knit and secretive. Scott Bakula, Vanessa Ferlito and Lucas Black star. 10 p.m. CBS

The Rookie Nathan Fillion stars in this new drama as the oldest rookie in the Los Angeles Police Department. 10 p.m. ABC

2018 BET Hip Hop Awards Actor and stand-up comic DeRay Davis hosts this year’s ceremonies from Miami.
