Angels 6, Colorado 6 (10 inning)
AT THE PLATE: Torii Hunter had three hits, including his third home run of the spring and a double, Vernon Wells had two hits, including a run-scoring double, and Howie Kendrick, after smoking two line-drive outs in his first two at-bats, had a run-scoring triple in the fifth inning.
ON THE MOUND: It was a rough day for Matt Palmer, who gave up four runs and seven straight hits, including Troy Tulowitzki’s three-run homer, in the first. Tulowitzki hit a solo homer against Palmer in the third. Fernando Rodney threw a scoreless fifth, Hisanori Takahashi two scoreless innings and has not given up a run in nine innings, and Jordan Walden had a scoreless eighth.
EXTRA BASES: Manager Mike Scioscia was ejected in the third inning for arguing a call by Chris Tiller, who ruled that Todd Helton crossed the plate before Ryan Spilborghs was tagged out at second base trying to advance on a sacrifice fly to center fielder Wells. “I didn’t curse him,” Scioscia said. “I guess he just had enough.”
UP NEXT: Jered Weaver faces the Chicago Cubs and right-hander Andrew Cashner at Tempe Diablo Stadium at 1 p.m. PDT.
